Dr Kate Ahmad MBBS (Hons), BMedSci, FRACP
Consultant Neurologist
Dr Ahmad is a Staff Specialist at Royal North Shore Hospital and a Visiting Medical Officer at North Shore Private Hospital.
Dr Ahmad completed her medical training at The University of Tasmania, graduating in 2003 with honours. She undertook Neurology training in Australia and the UK, followed by a fellowship year in Neurogenetics/neuromuscular disease. She is currently a PhD candidate with the University of Sydney.
Her special interests include neuro-ophthalmology and neurogenetics. She has published peer-reviewed scientific papers on these topics and is involved in the running of clinical trials.
She is the recipient of an NHMRC post-graduate scholarship and a research grant from the Australian Mitochondrial Disease Foundation. She presents at scientific meetings in Neurology and Neuro-ophthalmology, and is a reviewer for multiple medical journals.
Dr Ahmad is also engaged in medical education and hospital administration and is Director of Physician Training and Clinical Supervisor at Royal North Shore Hospital.
